Argosy XR137 in camo scheme after being accidentally burnt (MS) |
Argosy E1 XR137 arrived 10/01/78 in the above scheme as 'RRR860' for use as a fire trainer. The aircraft was painted in a camoflage scheme for the filming of the James Bond film 'Octopussy'. It was burnt by mistake whilst filming The South Bank Show on the life of Roald Dahl who was a ex Hurricane pilot. The fire service were apparently pleased because they did not like training on a high winged aircraft but the base commander was not. It became an unsafe structure and was scrapped soon after, having gone by 10/06/1987 |
