Raytheon's entry level jet is powered by two Williams-Rolls FJ44-2A turbofans
giving it a range of 2,775km and a top speed of 460kt. Much use has
been made of composites in construction. The Premier I is described
as a light jet with a midsize cabin, seating 8 passengers. It was rolled
out in August 1998 and first flew on 23rd December 1998, certification
was and first deliveries later than planned in 2000, with over 120 sales
claimed. Around 100 had been built by mid 2004. Upgrades that address
range, internal noise and field length deficiencies are being retrofitted
to already produced aircraft, the changes becoming standard on aircraft
number 75 and onwards. Several Premiers have suffered runway
overrun incidents, a problem which has been fixed with an update.
A Premier 1A update was announced in May 2005 and certified in October
2005 featuring a redesigned cabin and upgraded avionics. |
