Cessna Citation
In 1968, long time piston aircraft manufacturer Cessna  decided to produce an executive jet under the name ' Fanjet 500'.  A prototype first flew in September 1969, when the project was re-named 'Citation', starting a family of aircraft that has become the biggest and most prevalent of all the executive jets, in fact almost 3000 of all models have now been produced.  All aircraft are built at Wichita-Mid Continent Airport, Kansas.
Cessna Unit numbers were initially allocated on top of the C500, C501, 550 and 551 construction numbers which leads to a certain amount of confusion, although later on the two coincide.
